Good government starts with informed voters! Know your Candidate!

We're Going To Run ...
A New Kind Of Campaign

I believe that you are tired of "politics as usual."  I believe that you are tired of negative campaigns.   I believe that you are tired of empty promises.  I believe that issues really count.   So we're going to do something different.

I'm NOT going to attack the other candidates!

THEY  [professional campaign managers] tell me that I can't win if I run a "clean" campaign. I don't believe them.

I don't believe that voters don't care who's to blame.  I believe voters want to know how I'm going to make things better.

I don't believe voters need to hear what's "wrong" with the other candidate.  I believe voters want to know what I can, and will, do—not just what the other candidate can’t, or
won’t, do.

I call on ALL the candidates to follow my example and pledge to run a “clean,” issues-based campaign that respects the intelligence of the voters and dignity of the office of United States Representative

I'm AM going to talk about what really counts.

As a voter, you're frustrated with Politicians who say one thing and do something else. I know that. So past promises and voting records are relevant – and we ARE going to talk about them.

As a voter, you're frustrated with Politicians who promise to work on things that they have never studied and don't really understand. Education, experience and accomplishments are relevant -- and we ARE going to talk about them.

As a voter, you're frustrated with Politicians who vote their ideology, their Party's position and the interests of their financial supporters. Political philosophies and where a candidate’s loyalties lie are relevant -- and we ARE going to talk about them.

I'm going to REALLY talk about the ISSUES!

THEY  tell me the voters aren't really interested in the issues. THEY  tell me that an expression of "concern" is all that is needed to win votes.  I don't agree.

I believe you want a Congressman who cares enough bout the issues to have actually studied them -- not just read the "talking points" prepared by his campaign staff.

THEY
tell me the voters don't want to be educated on the facts. I don't believe them.

I believe that you are intelligent enough to want to know about the issues. I believe that you want a Congressman who actually understands the issues and who will tell you what he thinks--and why.

I don't expect us to agree on every issue--and I'm not going to tell you something just because it’s what you want to hear.

We need to talk about the issues--especially the controversial issues.

I will explain my positions, and I will listen to yours.

Maybe you will change my mind. Maybe I will change your mind. Maybe we will just have to agree to disagree.

But let's at least talk. I do want to hear from you. And I will respond.

THEY
say I shouldn't be specific--it will only leave me open to attack by the other candidates.  I say: "So what?"

I believe you want a Congressman who will tell you exactly where he stands and what he believes.

If another candidate wants to disagree with me--we will debate it.

If you and I disagree about something--we will discuss it.

If I'm wrong about something, I'm not afraid to admit it.

But I'm not going to hide behind generalities. You deserve better than that.

I call on ALL the candidates to follow my example and tell the voters what they really think about the issues, exactly what they will try to do and why they believe as they do.

I WON'T rely on polling to tell me what to believe.

THEY tell me I have to use polling data to know what the voters want to hear. They may be right, but I don’t care.

I don’t need polls to tell me where to stand on the issues. I’ll decide where I stand based on facts about the issues.  I may change my position as I become more knowledgeable on the facts – but I won’t be saying different things to different people.

I AM going to state my views on controversial issues!

THEY tell me not to risk offending anyone by expressing controversial opinions.  I believe they’re wrong.

I believe you have a right to know where I stand on all the issues, even the ones on which we have disagreements.

I believe that a candidate who is not willing to state his position on controversial issues is a coward. If a candidate doesn't have the courage of his convictions during the campaign, how can he be expected to act if he is elected?

I call on ALL the candidates to follow my example and show the courage of their convictions by telling the voters where they stand on ALL the issues.

PROVE "THEM" WRONG
JOIN THE CAMPAIGN
MAKE A DIFFERENCE
